I first joined M&S as an International Management Trainee, and began by completing a 6-month overseas attachment in Shanghai, India and the UK. I was then appointed into the role of Assistant Store Manager. To date, I have managed 4 different types and scale of store, including our flagship store. The most memorable milestone for me was the role of Store Manager launching the very first M&S boutique concept store in Asia situated in Times Square Shopping Mall - Causeway Bay. Currently I am now working at our Retail office as the Retail Operations Manager-Facilities, this role manages the stores’ Repairs & Maintenance schedules, equipment and consumable ordering, and service contracts for all 27 plus stores across Hong Kong and Macau. Working for M&S has always brought exciting and challenging opportunities both in my career so far and my life experience.
I have been working for M&S for over 9 years since starting as a Sales Advisor in our flagship store. I have had the chance to work in many different types and scale of stores and across various departments which has helped me broaden my skills. I have also given the opportunity to open a new food store in Queens Road East as a Store Manager, which was an incredible experience for me. I truly believe M&S is a great place to work, and offers many opportunities to grow and develop, whilst doing the right things for its customers and employees.
M&S has nurtured both my professional and personal growth. From the moment I started my journey as a Part-time Sales Advisor whilst studying at university to then progressing into the role of Floor Manager following my graduation. I have experienced many challenges and learning opportunities during my time with M&S and I am now currently training to be an Assistant Store Manager, which is really exciting, in fact I still feel the same level of excitement and passion that I felt from the first day I started.
Since joining M&S 9 years ago, I have had many different roles from a Sales Advisor to Store Manager. More recently, I opened a food store in Queensway Plaza as the Store Manager and I am now the Store Manager of 3 small M&S Food Stores, gaining my multi-site experience. M&S is a marvelous place for me to grow my career in retail and has taught me so much about my operational and management style and has helped me improve to be a better leader.
